POSITIONING YOURSELF FOR OPPORTUNITIES IN 2023

TA community (TAC) held this event on Saturday the 14th of January, their first event which had a great turn out and a lot of online presence via Microsoft teams.

Understanding the times & seasons: keys to positioning yourself for opportunities in 2023 was held at NO. 37 Durban street, off Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse 2 Abuja.

We kicked off the event 11.30am and the summit was an innovative exposure to keys on grabbing opportunities as they present themselves to us as entrepreneur, students, business owners and employees.

I don’t believe in perfect starting but in progression to perfection

Our first speaker Chris Nwoji Obinna the managing director of Papies Meatro took us on a journey of how he started out, the challenges and how Papies Meatro came to be today and he had lot of advices for business owners, he talked about many reasons fails one of the reason including not being knowledgeable enough about the business you’re into, and he also said it is important to always update on current trends in whatever business you venture into as this would help sustain any business. Finally he advised to always be prepared for anything because life can happen at any moment.

Our second speaker Gloria Onolemhemhen who is also a partner with TAC and program finance MasterCard Foundation urged us to work on our personal brands and so as to be prepared whenever an opportunities shows. She spoke on the elements on personal branding which are authenticity and networking and also visibility online because social media is your new CV.

Learn to collaborate, because you will not go far alone

She discussed how vital it is to be authentic about who you are if you want to succeed in that area while discussing networking. She mentioned how many people she had recommended as a result of networking. She emphasized the value of maintaining a current CV and suggested conducting research before applying for any position. Knowing your fellow applicants’ salaries and benefits will be useful during negotiations.

Additionally, Mrs. Gloria stressed the significance of understanding how branding may increase one’s value and worth as an employee or business owner.

She said that going above and above the call of duty, volunteering, and consistently demonstrating an interest in the organization’s operations are all significant methods to demonstrate your value as a member.

“It is risky not to take risks, act on an idea as it comes”
